The Federal Government has announced the repatriation of another 65 Nigerians from South Africa on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, amid concerns over reported anti-foreigner attacks and discrimination in the country.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday.
According to the ministry, the returnees, whose repatriation was sponsored by private individuals, will depart Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg at 3:30pm local time aboard South African Airways.
The flight is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 8:45pm on the same day.
The ministry said, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that another set of 65 Nigerian nationals sponsored by private individuals will depart the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa on Wednesday 26 August 2026 at 3.30pm local time via South African Airways.”
It added that the returnees were expected to arrive in Lagos at 8:45pm.
The latest repatriation comes amid renewed concerns over reported attacks and discrimination against foreign nationals in parts of South Africa.
Last week, the Federal Government announced the return of 83 Nigerians from South Africa.
The previous group was also repatriated with financial support from public-spirited private individuals.
The latest exercise brings the number of Nigerians announced for repatriation from South Africa in the past two weeks to 148.
The Federal Government has continued to engage relevant authorities and stakeholders over the welfare and safety of Nigerians living in South Africa.
