The Federal Government has launched a Joint Implementation Committee to drive the execution of resolutions from the National Conference on Digital Literacy and Emerging Skills, aiming to achieve at least 95% digital literacy in Nigeria by 2030.

The initiative aligns with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Digital Transformation Agenda.

In Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, represented by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, inaugurated the committee in collaboration with Clergywealth Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Limited (CWMSCL).

According to a statement by the SGF’s Director of Information, Segun Imohiosen, the committee will oversee the planning and organisation of the National Digital Literacy Conference, scheduled for January 28–29, 2026, as well as the training and certification of one million Nigerians in digital literacy and emerging skills.

The committee, chaired by Dr. Kana, includes representatives from key government ministries and agencies such as the Federal Ministries of Communications, Education, Information, Youth Development, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), alongside NGOs and partners including CWMSCL.

Speaking at the event, CWMSCL Deputy Director, Hon. Rosemary Ojochenemi Oshikoya, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to youth empowerment, noting that it will provide digital skills training with certification for one million young Nigerians, alongside initiatives in finance, healthcare, housing, and community development.
