The Federal Government has received 12 members of the Technical Aid Corps (TAC) who successfully completed a two-year volunteer mission in Liberia, where they contributed to rebuilding and strengthening the country’s education sector.
The volunteers were honoured on Monday during a debriefing ceremony held in Abuja, marking the end of their 24-month service under the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) programme.
Director-General of NTAC, Yusuf Yakub, commended the volunteers for their professionalism, discipline, and commitment throughout the mission.
Represented by the Deputy Director of Administration, Saidu Muhammad, Yakub praised the team for upholding Nigeria’s values and maintaining an unblemished record during their stay in Liberia.
“Your dedication has not only advanced Liberia’s educational development but also strengthened Nigeria’s image as a nation committed to global service and solidarity,” he said.
In his remarks, Zakari Usman, NTAC’s Director of Programmes, applauded the volunteers for their exemplary performance, saying they had “gone, seen, and conquered.”
He noted that their contributions embodied Nigeria’s humanitarian spirit and commitment to South-South cooperation.
Speaking on behalf of the volunteers, Team Lead Nwofoke Chukwuemeka expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the NTAC leadership for the opportunity to serve abroad.
He also acknowledged the support of the Nigerian Embassy in Liberia, which he said played a vital role in easing their integration and ensuring the success of their mission.
“We are proud to have represented our country and to have contributed to improving Liberia’s education system, which continues to recover from the effects of past conflicts,” Chukwuemeka stated.
The event concluded with the presentation of certificates of participation to all 12 volunteers in recognition of their successful completion of the programme and their service to both Nigeria and Liberia.
