Former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, says tackling corruption in Nigeria is simpler than widely believed.
Speaking during a youth and leadership session with students of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, on Friday, Obi said integrity in leadership starts from the home.
“If you, your wife, and children are not stealing, you have already reduced corruption by 60 per cent,” he said.
Citing his records, Obi noted that as a bank chairman, he never took loans from the institutions he led, and during his eight years as Anambra governor, no public funds were misappropriated under his name.
He maintained that corruption can be curbed swiftly with the right leadership, adding that if elected president in 2027, he would serve only a single term of four years.
“People ask what you can do in four years. You can bring civility and laws that lay the foundation for good governance,” he said.
