Timothy pleaded not guilty to the offence when the charge was read to him.

Leo, however, applied for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file.

The defence counsel, A. T. Victor, did not oppose the prosecutor’s application, but prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

Ruling on the application, the Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the manager to bail in the sum of half a million naira with two sureties in like sum.

Emmanuel said the sureties must swear to an affidavit of means and should reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

The magistrate added that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant, while the other must be a religious leader.

He adjourned the case until September 4 for hearing.
