Five charged after newborn baby found dead in Sheffield

Five people, including a 15-year-old girl, have been charged in connection with the death of a newborn baby in Sheffield, United Kingdom.

Police said the baby girl was discovered at a property on Holywell Heights in the Wincobank area on Sunday morning after officers received a report raising concerns about her safety.

Four adults — two men aged 19 and 38 and two women aged 20 and 37 — are facing charges of murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice.

The charges of perverting the course of justice relate to allegations that steps were taken to conceal the death of the infant.

The 15-year-old suspect faces a charge of perverting the course of justice. Her identity has been withheld in accordance with UK rules protecting minors involved in criminal proceedings.

Those charged are Peter Horvath, 19, of Holywell Heights; Andrea Skopova, 20, formerly of Robey Street; Nina Horvathova, 37, of Holywell Heights; and Peter Horvath, 38, also of Holywell Heights.

All five suspects have been remanded in custody and are expected to appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.

Detectives are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the baby’s death.

Police have not disclosed further details about the infant or the allegations beyond the charges brought against the suspects.
