South African footballer Sinamandla Zondi has been confirmed dead after collapsing during a warm-up session before a match.
The 22-year-old Durban City defender was preparing for the game between the club and Milford FC when he suddenly collapsed on Tuesday.

The footballer was rushed to the hospital, but the match was called off at halftime after officials were informed of his death.
The cause of his death was yet to be ascertained, ESPN reported.

Durban City, in a statement issued on Wednesday, expressed sadness over Zondi’s death, saying: “It is with deep sadness that we confirm the passing of Sinamandla Zondi, aka Sgora, a loved member of the Durban City family.
“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his family, friends, teammates, coaches, and everyone affected by this tragic loss. We will continue to support those close to him during this difficult time.”
Zondi made his professional debut in September 2021. This year, he was a key player for Durban City, which currently tops the league table and is a strong contender for promotion to South Africa’s Premier Division.
