Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has resigned from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet to pursue his ambition to contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State.

His resignation was confirmed on Monday in a brief statement issued by the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, who said, “The resignation of the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs is confirmed.”

Tuggar is one of four ministers expected to step down from the Federal Executive Council to pursue political ambitions ahead of the polls.

Tuggar, a native of Udubo in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has previously contested for the governorship position.
