Architect Kabir Ibrahim Faskari, a former President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), has died in Turkey.
Faskari, who was also the Chairman of the Agriculture Business Group, reportedly died in Istanbul following complications from prostate surgery.
A close associate of the deceased, who confirmed the development, said some of Faskari’s friends recently visited him in Istanbul and interacted with him shortly before returning to Nigeria.
The source said Faskari subsequently developed complications after undergoing the surgery.
Another source told Daily Trust that Faskari would be buried in Turkey, although details of the burial arrangements were not immediately available.
Faskari was a prominent figure in Nigeria’s agricultural sector and held leadership positions in major farmers’ organisations, including AFAN and PAN.
He was also an active advocate for Nigerian farmers, particularly on issues relating to food production, poultry farming, agricultural investment and food security.
Over the years, Faskari granted several media interviews on the state of Nigeria’s agricultural sector, highlighting challenges facing farmers and offering recommendations for improving food production and agricultural development.
Further details on his death and burial arrangements are expected to be announced by his family and associates.
