A fatal accident involving a Federal Road Safety Corps towing van and Dangote truck has claimed the life of the FRSC officer, leaving three persons critically injured in Abuja.
It was gathered that the accident occurred on the Kugbo Nyanya expressway, near Karu bridge, in the earlier hours of Friday, September 1, 2023.
The VIO Area commander in Kugbo, Walter Amechi, disclosed that the accident was caused by mechanical failure (brake failure).
Amechi said the FRSC towing vehicle was towing a Dangote truck, carrying cement which had its brake failed, to the VIO office in Kugbo.

He said the driver in the towing van was found dead, trapped in the vehicle, while the driver of the Dangote truck, conductor, and one other passenger sustained injuries.
He added that the victims were rushed to the hospital and are currently receiving treatment.
However, a senior FRSC officer, who declined to be named, said he could not give any information as he was traumatised.
He said the driver was his good subordinate, assuring that a statement would be released to give details of the accident.
The accident caused a gridlock along the Karu, Mararaba, and Nyanya axis.
