Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved the State Executive Council, bringing an end to the tenure of all commissioners and special advisers.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor expressed appreciation to the outgoing officials for their service and contributions to the development of the state.

Fubara also directed all affected commissioners and special advisers to immediately hand over the affairs of their ministries to the permanent secretaries or the most senior officers available.

The move comes just 48 hours after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, disclosed ongoing reconciliation efforts to address the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State.

According to Wike, President Bola Tinubu recently hosted Governor Fubara, himself, and other key political stakeholders from the state at a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in a bid to ease tensions linked to the lingering power struggle in the oil-rich state.
