Fuel marketers across Nigeria are increasingly patronising the Dangote Petroleum Refinery following major pricing and supply policy adjustments that have boosted confidence and widened access in the downstream sector.
The refinery recently reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to ₦699 per litre and slashed its minimum purchase requirement from 2 million litres to 250,000 litres.
Industry observers say the move has repositioned the refinery as a central hub for fuel distribution in the country.
To further strengthen confidence among marketers, Dangote Refinery also introduced a 10-day bank guarantee system to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Since the announcement of these measures, demand has surged, with the refinery now recording more than 1,000 trucks loading PMS daily from its gantry.
President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, said the company’s objective is to make energy affordable and accessible to all Nigerians.
He noted that the reduced prices and lower minimum purchase volume are designed to empower both large and small marketers, allowing fuel to reach all parts of the country.
According to Dangote, the refinery’s inclusive approach lowers barriers to entry, strengthens distribution networks and promotes competition, ultimately ensuring improved fuel availability and price stability nationwide.
Speaking to journalists recently, Dangote reiterated his commitment to ensuring Nigerians fully benefit from domestic refining.
He disclosed that the company is working to ensure recent gantry price reductions are reflected at retail outlets, stressing that the refinery project is driven by long-term national interest rather than profit.
Meanwhile, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has called on its members nationwide to patronise the Dangote Refinery for PMS purchases.
The association noted that the refinery currently offers the most competitive prices in the market, with free product delivery scheduled to commence in January 2026.
In a statement signed by IPMAN National President, Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi Shettima, the association welcomed an agreement for Dangote Refinery to supply PMS directly to registered IPMAN members.
Shettima said IPMAN controls over 80 per cent of Nigeria’s PMS retail market, assuring Nigerians that there would be no supply gap or fuel scarcity.
The growing patronage, industry stakeholders say, signals increasing confidence in Dangote Refinery’s capacity to stabilise fuel supply and support Nigeria’s energy security.
