The Federal University Gashua (FUGA), Yobe State, has developed a 2000-watt solar-powered generator through its Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office (IPTTO).
The university’s spokesperson, Alhaji Adamu Saleh, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Damaturu. He explained that the device comes with a 75Ah battery, 20A charge controller, 200W solar panel, and a 450W load capacity.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Maimuna Waziri—represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Mohammed Yakubu—announced the innovation during a sensitisation campaign on IPTTO activities.
She described the project as a landmark achievement that would enhance technological growth within the university and beyond.
Waziri commended the IPTTO team for its innovation and dedication, stressing that the breakthrough is a source of pride to the institution, Yobe State, and Nigeria at large.
