Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali have been nominated for the 2025 CAF men’s player of the year and goalkeeper of the year, respectively.
According to the list of nominees released by CAF on Wednesday, Osimhen, who won the award in 2023, will compete against Egypt and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender Achraf Hakimi, Senegal and Everton midfielder Iliman Ndiaye, among six other contenders.
Nwabali also earned a nomination for the Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year award following his impressive performances for Nigeria.
He will vie for the award alongside Andre Onana of Cameroon, Morocco’s Yassine Bounou, and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams.
Flying Eagles captain Daniel Bameyi was also shortlisted for the men’s young player of the year.

Super Falcons’ duo, Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo, were last week nominated for the CAF women’s best player award.
