Ganduje hands Gov Yusuf governorship forms as Kano APC backs Tinubu

Kano State stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and presented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf with expression of interest and nomination forms, signalling the party’s intention to return him as its governorship candidate in 2027.

The endorsements were formalised at a stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday, where immediate past APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, personally presented the forms to the governor on behalf of party leaders.

“We have already agreed that you are our sole governorship candidate and in order to actualise that promise, I, as a former Deputy Governor for eight years, former Governor for eight years and former National Chairman of our great party, hereby hand over these two important forms to you,” Ganduje said.

He explained that the documents — comprising both expression of interest and nomination forms — must be completed and returned in accordance with party guidelines.

The motion to adopt Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate was moved by Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi and received unanimous support from members at the meeting.

However, party leaders made clear that automatic tickets would not extend to other aspirants, with all remaining positions to be determined through internal party processes, particularly consensus arrangements.

Kano APC Chairman, Umar Haruna Doguwa, disclosed that the party had initially planned to purchase nomination forms for Tinubu from Kano but was preempted by other supporters.

“We wanted to buy a form for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from Kano, but we saw that some other people bought before us all the same,” he said.
