Globacom launches streaming service, GloTV

Telecommunications service provider, Globacom, has said that the over 50 million subscribers on its network can now watch TV on the go through its streaming service.

Launching the GloTV service in Lagos yesterday, the telecom operator said the service is accessible through Android, IOS apps, and the web.

Speaking at the launch, Head of Web Sales at Glo, Ugochukwu Ibe, said the service was designed to ensure that access to television programming graduates from computer and television to include mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, computers and is available on the go and in real-time.

“GloTV will positively alter television landscape in Nigeria and it will be highly sought after contents to millions of subscribers, via laptops, desktops, and mobile devices. To guarantee an exciting experience on GloTV, we are partnering with numerous content providers to ensure that we constantly offer contents that will appeal to all categories of our subscribers across demographics,” Ibe said.

On the quality of data service required for streaming service, Ibe said: “We are aware that fast and reliable internet is required to enjoy video content if the internet is slow, it takes time to load video content and this can be annoying to the users. With Globacom 4G data powered by Glo1, subscribers are assured of a pleasant streaming experience.”

He disclosed that Globacom, which marked 18 years of operation in Nigeria on August 29, 2021, has been driving an innovative revolution in Nigeria’s telecoms sector. “Since 2003, our company has been at the forefront of revolutionary interventions that have shaped the growth of the telecommunications industry in Nigeria. From the 2.5G technology and the per-second billing platform introduced at the launch to the 3G+ technology, the 4G technology, and the wholly-owned international submarine cable, the list keeps growing.

“Globacom has also consistently offered the best value for money by introducing the most innovative products. And services for robust calling and browsing experience of its subscribers,” he added.

He said some of the recent innovations introduced by Glo include Borrow Me Credit, Borrow Me Data, Borrow for Other, Glo Berekete, Mega Data Plans, the 22x Offer, triple 7 magic number, 11 kobo per second, and Always On.

Giving details of the service, Marketing Executive at Globacom, Viju Unnithan, said the subscribers would have access to over 50 Live TV channels, and over 500 movies on the GloTV platform including live shows covering sports, entertainment, and news.

Unnithan added that the platform would also be showing exclusive movies which are only available on GloTV.

While noting that the subscribers would enjoy the service for free till September 30, 2021, he said they can later subscribe for the service with as low as N150 for three days with 500MB data, N450 for seven days with 2GB data, or N1,400 for 30 days with 6GB data.
