Globacom unleashes faster, congestion-free network nationwide

Globacom has announced the completion of a major nationwide network upgrade, leveraging newly acquired spectrum and expanded infrastructure to deliver faster, more reliable 4G connectivity across Nigeria.

The upgrade, activated on Thursday, December 4, 2025, is designed to provide congestion-free service and enhanced broadband performance for all users.

At the heart of the enhancement is the acquisition of high-capacity spectrum, which significantly increases the network’s data-handling capacity.

This allows for faster downloads and uploads, seamless video streaming, crystal-clear calls, and consistent connectivity—even during peak hours.

According to Globacom, “These new network resources represent a nationwide transformation, ensuring stronger coverage, higher speeds, and consistent service quality wherever Nigerians live, work, or travel.”

The spectrum boost is complemented by rapid physical infrastructure expansion.

Thousands of LTE sites deployed this year are being reinforced, with hundreds of new sites coming online and thousands more planned over the next year to deepen broadband penetration and strengthen indoor and outdoor coverage nationwide.

Additionally, Globacom has upgraded its national fibre backbone, enhancing long-haul and metropolitan links and incorporating advanced microwave technology to eliminate data bottlenecks and resolve congestion issues.

In a statement, a company official emphasized Globacom’s commitment to affordable connectivity: “Our promise is simple—world-class connectivity at pocket-friendly prices.

“Every Nigerian should have access to fast, reliable, and affordable communication, and this network upgrade delivers exactly that.”

In support of environmental sustainability, Globacom is also deploying hybrid battery power systems across multiple sites, reducing reliance on diesel generators while improving uptime and efficiency.

Subscribers are encouraged to take advantage of the upgraded network, which is set to empower growth in education, e-commerce, digital business, and entertainment platforms such as GloTV.

With enhanced spectrum, broader coverage, and market-leading speeds, Globacom’s upgrade marks a significant milestone in advancing Nigeria’s digital landscape.
