GOCOP condoles with ex-President Chigbo over sister’s death

The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has expressed deep condolences to its immediate past president and publisher of Realnews, Ms. Maureen Chigbo, over the death of her sister, Barrister Nwamaka Mediatrix Chigbo.

Barrister Chigbo was reportedly murdered by kidnappers in Abuja on January 5, 2026, a development that has drawn widespread grief and condemnation.

In a condolence letter jointly signed by the President of GOCOP, Mr. Danlami Nmodu, mni, and the General Secretary, Mr. Sufuyan Ojeifo, the Guild described the incident as tragic and deeply disturbing, noting that the loss has left members of the association heartbroken.

The leadership of the Guild recalled the late Barrister Chigbo’s professional relationship with GOCOP, highlighting her invaluable legal services to the association.

They commended her dedication to the legal profession, her passion for justice, and her unwavering commitment to excellence.

According to the letter, the Guild acknowledged the pain and grief being experienced by Ms. Chigbo and her family, assuring them of GOCOP’s solidarity and support during the difficult period.

The Guild described the late lawyer as a dedicated professional whose legacy would continue to inspire those who worked with her.

GOCOP noted that Barrister Chigbo was more than a legal adviser to the Guild, describing her as a dependable partner who offered timely guidance whenever her services were required.

The association said her contributions would be fondly remembered and her memory honoured.

The Guild also extended its condolences to the entire Chigbo family, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), FCT Branch, as well as the friends and professional associates of the late Barrister Nwamaka Mediatrix Chigbo.
