Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the appointment of Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the 16th Emir of Gusau, following the death of his father, Ibrahim Bello, the 15th Emir, who passed away on July 25 after ten years on the throne.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada, who stated that the appointment followed the recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers in line with tradition and existing laws.

Abdulkadir Bello, the eldest son of the late emir, previously held the traditional title of Bunun Gusau and is a direct descendant of the historic figure Sambo Dan Ashafa.

Governor Lawal congratulated the new emir and charged him to uphold the legacy of his forefathers, urging him to serve as a symbol of unity and development in the emirate.

He called on the new emir to “be a beacon of unity, peace, and development, promoting harmonious coexistence across the Gusau Emirate and beyond.”
