Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has attributed the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) recent victory in the Chikun Federal Constituency by-election to his administration’s fair and merit-based governance.
Speaking in an interview with TVC, Governor Sani described the outcome as historic, noting that the constituency had been a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since 1999.
“In the history of our party, APC had never won in Chikun Federal Constituency.
“It was always PDP, and just two years ago the Labour Party even clinched the seat. But following the bye-election, APC secured 70% of the votes,” he said.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the APC candidate winner with 34,580 votes, while the PDP candidate polled 11,491 votes.
Governor Sani stressed that the victory was a direct reflection of his administration’s style of governance.
“What you are seeing in Kaduna today is simply the result of our approach to leadership — fairness, inclusivity, and equity,” he stated.
He, however, expressed concern over political discourse that reduces governance to religious or ethnic affiliations.
“I recently heard discussions about the number of Muslims and Christians in Kaduna. That’s unfortunate and unnecessary.
“We do not govern based on religion, ethnicity, or party lines, but on justice and merit,” he added.
Since assuming office, Governor Sani said his government has remained committed to policies anchored on fairness, justice, and inclusivity.
