Gov Uba Sani launches historic road project in Makarfi

Governor Uba Sani on Monday launched the construction of the Durum–Kuruntumawa road in Makarfi Local Government Area, describing the project as a step towards correcting decades of neglect of rural communities in Kaduna State.

The Governor stressed that development must be evenly spread across all 23 local government areas, not concentrated in Kaduna metropolis.

“Makarfi is one of 12 local governments that had not seen a completed road project in the last ten years.

:Today, we are breaking that record.

“Rural dwellers are as much a part of Kaduna State as those in the urban centres,” he said.

He noted that the project is not merely about laying asphalt but about promoting inclusive growth.

“This road is a promise fulfilled—a lifeline for farmers, traders, students, and families,” he added.

Governor Sani highlighted Makarfi’s role as a major farming hub producing maize, sugarcane, tomatoes, and soybeans, saying the road will boost agricultural productivity and market access.

Since assuming office in May 2023, the Governor disclosed that his administration has initiated 85 road projects covering 785 kilometres, with 44 already completed and many others at advanced stages.

He also announced the award of 15 new road projects under the second phase.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, Sani said:
“Our government is a people’s government.

“We will continue to invest in rural areas because the state’s resources belong to everyone.”

He urged residents and community leaders to safeguard the new infrastructure, noting that community ownership would ensure lasting benefits.

“This groundbreaking is not just a ceremony but a symbol of progress and our shared aspiration for a better future,” he said.

Governor Sani assured that his government will keep channeling resources to rural communities, promising that no part of Kaduna State will be left behind.
