Gov Yahaya dissolves Gombe cabinet

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has dissolved his Executive Council, directing all commissioners to hand over the affairs of their ministries to Permanent Secretaries on or before Friday, April 10, 2026.

The dissolution was announced on Wednesday by Secretary to the State Government Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, following an extraordinary council session that assessed the administration’s performance over the past two and a half years of the governor’s second term.

Njodi said the council conducted a post-mortem of governance activities and concluded that the administration had recorded excellent results, but noted that evolving political dynamics necessitated the cabinet shake-up.

He said the move was aimed at creating a level playing field for commissioners and other political appointees who may wish to seek elective office in the 2027 general elections.

“The governor appreciates the outgoing council members for their dedication, loyalty and contributions to the administration’s development agenda,” Njodi said, adding that their collective efforts had yielded achievements across multiple sectors.

Beyond commissioners, other political office-holders and aides intending to contest elections were also directed to resign within the same timeframe.

Njodi conveyed the governor’s best wishes to the affected appointees and urged the media and the public to continue supporting government programmes.
