Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has led a high-powered delegation to Madina, Saudi Arabia, to attend the funeral rites of the late elder statesman and business mogul, Aminu Alhassan Dantata, who passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Monday.
The delegation includes the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II; Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi; former Jigawa State Governor, Barr. Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu; and other notable government officials and dignitaries from Kano State.
Late Dantata, known for his immense contributions to commerce, philanthropy, and public service, spent his final days in spiritual devotion before his passing. His death marks the end of a significant era in Nigeria’s socio-economic and humanitarian landscape.
Speaking before departure at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Governor Yusuf described the late Dantata as “a father figure to many, whose generosity and compassion transcended borders.”
He added that the Kano delegation’s presence at the funeral reflects the deep respect and gratitude of the state’s people and government for Dantata’s lifelong service and legacy.
The funeral in Madina is expected to attract mourners from across Nigeria and beyond, including religious leaders, public officials, family members, and business associates, all coming together in prayer for the repose of his soul.
Aminu Dantata will be remembered for his humility, faith, and enduring impact on national development and social welfare.
