Group to Nigerians: Elect credible, God-fearing candidates in 2023

A non-denominational group, the Christain Conscience Group, has urged Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and elect credible and God-fearing candidates in the 2023 general election.

The Christain Conscience Group enjoined Nigerians, who are yet to begin or conclude the process of getting their PVCs, to take advantage of the remaining available period by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do so.

The group made the call via a statement jointly signed by its National Chairman, Dr. Yetunde Akinluyi, and the National Secretary, Revd. Dr. Kolawole Verralls.

The group further commended the political parties for ensuring internal democracy to thrive in their parties just it urged them to “replicate these laudable efforts during the 2023 general election, so that Nigerians will have cause to enjoy dividends of democracy”.

It added: “To some sceptics who never believe in the Nigeria agenda or trust in our political leaders to organise acceptable and credible primaries amongst themselves.

”It has clearly shown that, despite little challenges and hiccups, Nigeria is gradually moving to the Promised Land where the issues of internal democracy are discussed in the comity of Nations.

“We watched keenly with bated breath on how the outcome of the primaries in all political parties, especially the leading ones will come out without rancur and disagreement, but was surprised that high sense of maturity were displayed by the parties, hence the successes recorded by all of them in arriving at acceptable candidates”.

The group further called on Nigerians to elect acceptable and God-fearing candidates that will take the citizens to the “Promised Land of economy bouyancy, adequate security of lives and property as well as job creation for our youths”.

“Also the issue of electricity must also be addressed. Most artisans and Nigerians’ means of livelihood, depend on this epilectic and undependable supply of power, hence when the issue of electricity is adequately addressed, the informal sector of the economy will pick up and the Nation will be better for it,” the Christain Conscience Group added.

The group equally urged the candidates of all parties to “put on their thinking caps as to how average Nigerians will be proud of the nation when their programmes touches them positively when elected.”
