Group to President-Elect Tinubu: Be a father of all

The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been admonished to, as a matter of priority, address the suffering and anger facing Nigerians as soon as he is sworn in as the President and Commander in Chief.

Christian Conscience, a non-denominational group, gave the advice after its monthly meeting held at the weekend.

The position of the group was made known to The Star in a statement jointly signed by its National chairman, Dr. (Mrs) Yetunde Akinluyi, and the National  Secretary, Rev Dr Kolawole Verrals.

The group congratulates Tinubu, wishing him God’s guidance and success in steering the ship of the nation towards.

The group said: “The tension and suffering in the land must be doused. We seek food, security, basic infrastructure and let there be jobs for our youths as promised during electioneering.

“Don’t be a winner takes all President, but form a government of inclusiveness where Nigerians will have sense of belonging.

“In your speech you actually offered those that contested against you the opportunity to join you as partners in nation building.

“Though you have done it before with your achievements in Lagos as Governor, now with your emergence as President-Elect, all eyes are on you, both within the country and before the comity of Nations.

“Just like Abraham in the Bible who was father of Nations, Asiwaju Tinubu should see himself as father of all and ensure that the lingering suffering in the land is tackled head on. Let the administration be fair, just and God-fearing in all policies and actions.”

While congratulating Lagosians for the peaceful conduct during the Presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25, the group further enjoined the electorate to vote for continuity in Lagos so that more dividends of democracy will be enjoyed by the people.

“We enjoined Lagosians to continue to live in peace and in harmony. We should not allow elections to divide us. Nations can only progress in the midst of love,” the group added.
