The Nasarawa State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has disowned its governorship candidate, Joseph Ewuga, for adopting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship flag-bearer, David Ombugadu.
The Nasarawa LP, in a statement issued on Wednesday by its secretary, Dahiru Saidu Abubakar, said Ewuga’s withdrawal for the PDP’s governorship candidate was his (Ewuga) personal decision, saying it was not approved by the party.
“Let me on behalf of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State clearly state that if the reported step down is true, then it is strictly a personal decision of Mr Joseph Ewuga and does not enjoy the approval or support of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State,” Abubakar stated.

He noted that during the party’s engagements, it was discovered that Peter Obi won the presidential election in Nasarawa State based on his personal merit “which was only in tandem with the National Mass Movement by the Obedient family, which Nasarawa State was not an exceptional.”
“After due painstaking considerations, we in the Labour party have come to an irreversible conclusion without any fear of contradiction, that Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule of the APC and incumbent Governor deserves the support of the Labour Party in Saturday’s gubernatorial elections,” he added.
The LP secretary, however, urged the party’s supporters to vote for Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the March 18 gubernatorial election in Nasarawa State.
“I wish to state categorically and for the sake of emphasis that the position of the Labour Party is strictly as it concerns the election into the office of the governor of Nasarawa State,” Abubakar stressed.
