Gunmen have abducted the village head of Aujarawar Alkali in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

The traditional ruler, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, was reportedly taken from the community after the assailants invaded the area on Thursday night.

The abduction was confirmed on Friday by Mahi Isma’il, spokesperson to the Zannan Kano and District Head of Jogana.

Isma’il described the incident as a serious security concern that had heightened anxiety among residents of the community.

He said the victim’s family and community leaders were worried about his safety and whereabouts following the incident.

The District Head of Jogana, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ma’aji, appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the traditional ruler and improve security in vulnerable rural communities.

“We appeal to security operatives to strengthen the protection of lives and property and do everything possible to ensure the safe return of our village head,” Ma’aji said.

He urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel by providing relevant information that could assist the rescue operation.

Ma’aji also called on members of the community to pray for the safe return of the abducted village head, expressing hope that he would soon be reunited with his family and subjects.

Efforts to obtain an official update from the police were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, had told our correspondent he would provide an update after contacting officers in the area.
