Gunmen abduct Plateau council chairman

Gunmen have abducted the Chairman of Kanke Local Government Council of Plateau State, Henry Gotip.

It was gathered that Gotip, who is the state’s Secretary of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, was kidnapped in the early hours of Wednesday at his residence at Kwang in Jos North Local Government Area of the state.

The incident was confirmed by the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo.

Alabo stated that the state police command has dispatched a tactical team to search for the abducted Council Chairman and ensure his safe return.

“When we received the information on the incident, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bartholomew Onyeka, directed our armed personnel to track the men of the underworld, arrest the kidnappers and get the victim released unhurt.

“In fact, the instruction was that none of the personnel will sleep until they get the victim out,” the police spokesperson said.
