Gunmen abduct two farmers in Ondo, demand N100m ransom

Gunmen have abducted two farmers in Parubber community, Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It was gathered that the farmers were kidnapped while working on their farms and were forced into a nearby forest by gunmen on Monday, 3, 2026.

The abductors were said to have contacted the families of the victims and demanded a ransom of N100 million for their release.

Confirming the incident on Friday, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said the abduction was reported at the Oke-Igbo Divisional Headquarters, prompting an immediate security response.

Jimoh added that a joint security team comprising police operatives, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Amotekun Corps, local hunters, and vigilantes has been deployed to comb the area for the victims.

He said security agencies were also pursuing intelligence-led efforts aimed at rescuing the victims safely and apprehending those responsible for the crime.

The police spokesperson appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist in the rescue mission.
