Gunmen have abducted the wife and twin children of the younger brother of former Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Bayo Adelabu, in Ibadan, the state capital.
It was gathered that the victims were kidnapped in the Challenge area of Ibadan, Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
Confirming the incident, one of Adelabu’s media aides, Femi Awogboro, said the victims – identified as Laide, the wife of Adelabu’s younger brother, and her twin children, Peter and Paul – were abducted by gunmen while travelling out of their residence.
Awogboro said the family members were heading from the Elewura area of Challenge to connect to the expressway when they were ambushed and taken away by the gunmen.

“The family members were going out this morning from Elewura to link the express when they were attacked and whisked away by the kidnappers,” he added.
The incident has heightened concerns over insecurity in Oyo State, coming weeks after more than 40 teachers and students were abducted during an attack on Ahoro-Esiele in Oriire Local Government Area.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Command said it has yet to verify the latest incident as of press time.
