Gunmen demand N100m ransom for Nasarawa commissioner’s release

The abductors of the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Yakubu Lawal, have demanded N100 million ransom for his release.

The Star had reported that the commissioner was abducted at his country home, Nasarawa Eggon, on Monday night.

A family source, who craved anonymity, disclosed that the gunmen contacted the family on Tuesday, demanding N100 million for the release of Lawal.

“Actually, they called this evening at about 4:30pm and demanded N100 million and when the family offered N3.5 million they switched off the phone that they are not serious and insisted that anything less than a N100 million they should forget it.

“They dialled the number again and it was not reachable,” the source disclosed.
