Gunmen kidnap Federal Housing director in Abuja

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have reportedly abducted a director in the Federal Housing Authority, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Aondo Ver, in Pambara in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

It was gathered that the director was kidnapped by gunmen during an attack on his residence in Abuja in the wee hours on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

It was further learnt that soldiers were stationed at a military base which is about 200 metres away from where Ver was abducted.

Some residents of the area disclosed that military personnel, both serving and retired, and civilians were also attacked by bandits.

“Bandits attacked Pambara Extension over the night, at about 12:30 a.m. today (Thursday), and they abducted one of our neighbours, Mr Aondo Ver, who is a Director in Federal Housing Authority, FCT.

“The attack happened very close to a ‘camp,’ the military base at the entrance of Bwari very close to Pambara Extension. The part of Pambara Extension where Mr Ver was kidnapped is just about 200 metres away from the military base. But the kidnappers escaped through the bushes with the victim,” a resident told Punch.

Another resident added: “The attack is still shocking to us. Our estate is very close to the military base here known as ‘camp’ at the entrance of Bwari, and there are also serving and retired military personnel living with us here, yet these bandits were bold enough to attack this place and kidnap Mr Ver.”

The FCT Police Command has however yet to speak on the incident as of press time.
