Gunmen kidnap FRSC officer in Benue

Gunmen have abducted an officer of the Benue State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nathaniel Kumashe, in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SRC Ngozi Ahula, confirmed the abduction on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

Ahula said the FRSC officer serving in Wannue, Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State, was abducted at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19.

She said Kumashe was abducted in his country home in Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor in Tarka LGA, shortly after returning from his late cousin’s wake.

She noted that the gunmen fired gunshots to scare his family members and neighbours before taking the FRSC officer away.

A source in the community also disclosed that the community youths immediately launched a search throughout the night but the gunmen were fast gone.

The source said the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the neighbourhood also joined in the search operation.

It was further learnt that the victim might have been moved to a kidnappers’ hideout in neighbouring Guma LGA of Benue State.
