Gunmen have reportedly abducted staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) along Aloma Road in Kogi State.

It was gathered that the INEC officials were travelling from Abuja to Anambra State on official duty in preparation for the forthcoming governorship election when the attack occurred on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

According to reports, the armed assailants ambushed their vehicle, fired multiple shots, and shattered its windscreen. None of the occupants sustained gunshot injuries.

The abducted officials were said to have been deployed to Anambra State for the printing of the voters’ register and other essential election materials in preparation for the governorship election scheduled for November 8.

The gunmen were said to have abducted all the occupants of the bus, including the driver and his wife.

However, the Kogi State Police Command has yet to speak on the incident as of press time.
