Gunmen kidnap Nasarawa councillor

A councillor representing Doka Ward in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Muhammad Onumenya, has been abducted by suspected kidnappers.

The incident reportedly occurred on February 23 at about 7:35 p.m. along the Doma–Yelwa Village Road while the councillor was travelling within the area.

Security operatives, supported by local vigilante groups and hunters, were immediately deployed to search the surrounding bushes for the victim.

As of the time of filing this report, the councillor’s whereabouts remain unknown.

Authorities say search and rescue operations are ongoing, with intensified efforts aimed at securing his safe release and tracking down those behind the abduction.

Residents have been advised to stay alert and share any useful information that could assist in the rescue mission.
