Gunmen have abducted a top official of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Engr. Kingsley Okorafor, in Umuadara Umulogho Autonomous Community, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State.
It was gathered that Okorafor was kidnapped close to his residence in the early hours of Saturday.
The abduction of the NDDC official was confirmed by the traditional ruler of the community, Eze Patrick Uwalaka, noting that the incident caused panic in the community.
It was learnt that the community is about three kilometres away from a military checkpoint in the area.

A member of the Okorafor’s family, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the victim attended the vigil of a traditional ruler of one of the autonomous communities in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo, whose burial was slated for Saturday.
The source added that he believed the NDDC official was trailed after he left the vigil for his community where he was abducted, while his car was left behind.
All efforts to get the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Mike Abattam, to speak on the incident were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
