Gunmen kill Ebonyi commissioner’s brother

Gunmen have killed Christopher Igwe, the younger brother to the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Uchenna Igwe.

The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Ukandu said the incident occurred around the Ishieke area of Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state at about 10 p.m on Monday.

“The assailants, after operations at a cooking gas selling store, began to shoot and, unfortunately, the brother to the commissioner was shot dead,” he said.

Ukandu noted that police operatives had already launched an investigation into the incident for the possible arrest of the assailants.

The police spokesman, therefore, urged residents to provide available and useful information to ensure that the perpetrators were brought to book.
