Gunmen have killed a hotelier, Adesoji Adeleye, at his hotel in the Arakale area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Gunmen also killed three farmers at Ajagbusi community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olushola, confirmed the killings on Tuesday.

Olushola, while confirming the murder of the hotelier, said investigations were ongoing to arrest the perpetrators.

He said: “Yes, I can confirm that a hotelier was killed here in Akure yesterday (Monday) and it was reported at B Division Police Station.

“All efforts are in place to get the perpetrators, and the commissioner of police has directed that the case should be transferred to state criminal investigation department for discreet Investigations.

“I can also tell you that all resources are on the table to ensure that the perpetrator will not go unpunished.”

However, it was gathered that Adeleye was asleep in one of the rooms in the hotel when he was gruesomely killed by some men suspected to be assassins.

It was also gathered that the men overpowered the hotel owner and stabbed him severally, leaving him in a pool of his blood before he died.

Olushola further stated that police operatives have been deployed to apprehend the killers of three farmers at Ajagbusi community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Olushola, who said the command had deployed all its tactical team to the affected community, urged residents not to take laws into their hands, and allow the security agencies to perform their lawful duty.

According to him, the command has mobilise all the needed resources to the affected area to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and face the full wrath of the law.

The police spokesman said: “Three farmers were killed by gunmen, and tactical teams have been deployed to the area to restore order and apprehend the assailants.

“So, security agencies are in place to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the area. The command urge all law abide citizens to go about their business without any fear.”

It was gathered that the farmers were ambushed on their to the farm and shot dead while riding a motorcycle on Tuesday morning.

The attackers were said to have fled the scene after killing the farmers.
