Gunmen kill man, set him ablaze in Ebonyi

Gunmen have killed and set ablaze a man, Michael Nnaji, at Ngbo community in the Ohaukwu Local Government of Ebonyi State.

The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

Ukandu disclosed that the incident occurred on Tuesday night.

He said: “We (police) are aware of the incident but we are yet to get the details of what really happened in the area.

“We have contacted Ohaukwu Divisional Headquarters and our team has moved to the scene for investigation.

“I am yet to be briefed and  I must say that the State Police Command will carry out in-depth investigation into the matter.

“We are assuring that the perpetrators will be apprehended and prosecuted.”

Also speaking on the incident, a resident of the area, Joy Nwankwor, said the victim who was a businessman was murdered on Tuesday Night.

Nwankwor said: “The gunmen operated with a motorcycle. After shooting him, his corpse was set ablaze.

“His body has been taken to Ezzamgbo General Hospital mortuary.”
