Gunmen kill one, kidnap Zamfara Emir’s son, 6 others

Gunmen have killed one person and abducted seven others, including an Emir’s son, during an attack on Bungudu, the headquarters of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 14, 2023.

It was learnt that the gunmen killed one person and abducted seven other residents, including the son of the Emir of Bungudu Abdulrahman Hassan and the Former State Programme Officer of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Abubakar Fada Bungudu.

A resident of Bungudu, identified simply as Ishaq, disclosed that the assailants stormed the town with deadly weapons, shooting sporadically and killed one person.

Ishaq lamented the incessant attacks on the local government headquarters by gunmen, despite being the closest local government to Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

Bungudu Local Government Headquarters is about 21 kilometres to Gusau.

Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar, has yet to speak on the incident as of press time.
