The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident via a statement on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Ejire-Adeyemi said scores of gunmen riding motorcycles invaded Babanla on Friday, August 8, attacking the Divisional Police Headquarters and raiding the market.

The police spokesperson stated that a swift joint response by the police, Nigerian Army personnel, vigilantes, and local hunters repelled the attack and began a full-scale manhunt.
