‘He can do everything’: Mikel Obi asks Chelsea to sign Osimhen

Former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has told his former club Chelsea to sign Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen while calling for an “experienced striker”.

Chelsea signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap in the summer for a combined fee of £90 million but the duo have only scored seven goals across 33 appearances in the Premier League.

Speaking in a recent interview with Sky Sports, Obi urged Chelsea to sign Osimhen, who scored 26 goals in the Turkish league last season and has six in the current campaign.

He said: “Victor Osimhen. He can stretch the play, he can run behind, he can come short, he can score goals, he can do everything.

“You need that experienced striker who’s been there, done it, knows how to win big games, knows how to score in big games, knows how to be in the right place at the right time.”

The former midfielder added that goalkeeper is an area Chelsea should target, despite having Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.

“The goalkeeper issue is a must. I just think if you want to win trophies, you need a top, top goalkeeper,” Obi added.
