Herdsmen kill 7, raze houses in Benue

Suspected herdsmen have killed no fewer than seven persons during an attack on Otobi community in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was gathered that the suspected herdsmen also set many houses ablaze, while a yet-to-be-ascertained number of residents were injured during the attack which occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

An eyewitness, who joined a security response team in the community, confirmed that the assailants killed seven residents, adding that the response team continued to comb the community in search of those wounded.

Gunmen kill 3 policemen at Enugu checkpoint

The lawmaker representing Otukpo-Akpa Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Kennedy Angbo, also confirmed the incident.

Angbo said an unconfirmed number of persons were killed, adding that scores of residents have fled the community.

The Benue State Police Command is yet to speak on the latest attack as of press time.
