A man identified as Ojo Deji has been killed by suspected hoodlums while giving alms in the Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State.
The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident on Monday, June 30, 2025.
Abutu said preliminary investigation revealed that the man went to Atikankan Area to give alms to the destitute at about 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 28.
He stated: “Upon sighting the man, two groups of suspected hoodlums approached him begging for money.

“In the process, a fight ensued between the two groups where the deceased was stabbed. He was rushed to the hospital where he died while receiving medical treatment.
“Two suspects have been apprehended and are currently undergoing investigation while others are at large. Effort is underway to arrest them.”
The police spokesman while calling for calm, assured members of the public that no stone would be left unturned to ensure that justice is delivered.
