How bride ended marriage days after N9.8m traditional wedding

A social media user identified as Enugu Last Born has shared the story of his boss whose traditional marriage reportedly collapsed just days after the ceremony despite spending nearly N10 million on the event.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the man said the incident occurred about two years ago and left family members and friends shocked.

According to him, elaborate preparations were made for the traditional wedding, with celebrations held at both the groom’s family home and the bride’s family residence.

He claimed that his boss spent approximately N9.8 million on the ceremony, including the slaughter of two cows for the festivities.

“My boss did his traditional marriage and he spent almost N9.8 million because he killed two cows for the event. One in his family house and one at his in-laws’ place,” he wrote.

However, he said the marriage ran into trouble shortly after the ceremony.

According to the account, the bride informed her husband three days after the traditional wedding that she was no longer interested in continuing with the marriage and subsequently left.

“Three days after the event, the girl said she’s no longer interested in the marriage and left,” he added.

The story has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many users expressing sympathy for the groom and discussing the emotional and financial consequences of relationships that end shortly after marriage ceremonies.

Others stressed the importance of mutual understanding, compatibility and commitment before taking major marital decisions.
