The Federal Government has opened applications for a free three-week solar photovoltaic installation training programme targeted at professionals, technicians, young people and others seeking careers in renewable energy.
The programme is being organised in collaboration with Siemens Energy and the German development agency, GIZ, under the Siemens Energy Education and Development project, SEED.
It is supported by the Nigerian Energy Support Programme, a technical assistance initiative co-funded by the European Union and the German Government and implemented by GIZ.
According to a notice published by the FGN Power Company on its X handle on Wednesday, the training will combine classroom instruction with practical sessions, technical site visits and competency assessments.
Participants who successfully complete the programme will also receive certification from the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN.
The organisers said applicants do not need to have formal education or previous practical experience to qualify for the programme.
“The programme is open to applicants with practical experience as well as those without formal education or prior practical experience,” the notice stated.
Recent graduates with National Diploma, Higher National Diploma or undergraduate qualifications, young professionals in relevant fields and people interested in renewable energy have also been encouraged to apply.
However, applicants must be available to attend the training physically for the entire three-week period.
To apply, interested candidates are required to complete an online Expression of Interest form on or before 4pm on Friday, September 18, 2026.
Applicants will first provide basic personal information, including their full name, gender, telephone number and email address, before selecting their preferred training location.
They must also confirm whether they are available to participate in the three-week onsite training scheduled for September 2026.
The application process further requires candidates to provide details of their educational and professional background, including their highest qualification, employment status, work experience and sector of employment.
Applicants with formal educational backgrounds will be required to upload their latest CV, degree certificates and other relevant academic or professional certificates.
The training will take place at centres in Lagos and Abeokuta, Ogun State, with each stream running for three weeks onsite.
The organisers said both the training and certification would be provided free of charge, while meals would be available to participants on training days.
However, applicants are expected to make their own arrangements for accommodation and transportation, as neither will be provided by the organisers.
Interested applicants can submit their Expression of Interest through the application form provided by the organisers.
