‘I know my husband, he did not rape, kill Favour’ — Odogwu Asaba’s wife

The wife of content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, has defended her husband weeks after his arrest over the alleged rape of 20-year-old Favour Agbro, who later died by suicide.

In a video making the rounds online, Ogbonna’s wife said she stood firmly behind her husband, insisting that she knew him and did not believe he committed the alleged offences.

“I know my husband. He did not rape or kill Favour. I stand with him 100 per cent,” she said.

She also cautioned against reaching conclusions based on claims circulating on social media, arguing that social media should not be treated as a court of law.

The controversy followed Agbro’s trip from Warri to Asaba on June 1, 2026, after Ogbonna allegedly offered to mentor and train her in content creation.

Agbro subsequently alleged in a viral video that Ogbonna took her to a hotel where she was sexually assaulted.

Following the alleged incident and the distress she reportedly experienced, Agbro later died by suicide.

Ogbonna was subsequently arrested by the Delta State Police Command after a petition was filed by human rights activist, Comrade Israel Joe.

The police spokesperson for the state, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest at the time.

The latest comments by Ogbonwu’s wife come amid ongoing public debate over the allegations, with the case yet to be determined by a court.
