Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Major General Christopher Musa (retd.), has reflected on what he described as a concerted effort by some people to undermine his rise, saying they “thought they had won” before divine intervention turned the tide in his favour.
Speaking during a service at the Conquerors Global Assembly in Abuja, Musa attributed his current leadership role to God’s intervention, especially at times when circumstances appeared stacked against him.
The remarks were captured in a video shared on social media and monitored by Church Times.
Musa encouraged worshippers not to lose hope in the face of challenges, urging them to remain steadfast because, “as long as you have God as your pillar you will win.”
He also prayed for the continued growth of the ministry and thanked church leaders for their support.
The Defence Minister used the opportunity to warn against persistent negative narratives about Nigeria, saying constant criticism undermines national progress.
He called on citizens, particularly Christians, to live out the values they profess.
Musa was nominated by President Bola Tinubu as Defence Minister on December 2, 2025, replacing Mohammed Badaru, who resigned on health grounds.
His nomination was conveyed in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, with the Presidency expressing confidence in Musa’s ability to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture. He was sworn in shortly after.
