Founder of Word of Life Bible Church and former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Ayo Oritsejafor, has disclosed that he spent about $120,000 on medical treatment during a prolonged cancer battle that involved surgery, complications, and extended hospital care in the United States.
Speaking in a video message shared on his Instagram page, the cleric said the financial cost reflected months of intensive treatment that followed the discovery of his illness abroad.
He explained that initial medical assessments suggested the condition required close monitoring, after which he continued travelling between Nigeria and the United States for further evaluation and care.
Oritsejafor said the situation later escalated, leading to surgery and a lengthy recovery period during which he remained under close medical supervision. He added that the treatment process included hospitalisation, post-operative care, and emergency intervention after complications developed.
According to him, part of the most difficult phase came after surgery, when he suffered an infection that required urgent attention from doctors who experimented with different antibiotics before stabilising his condition.
He stated that the total cost of treatment accumulated to about $120,000, covering medical procedures, hospital admission, and associated care over several months.
The cleric noted that beyond the financial burden, the experience tested him physically and emotionally, as he navigated periods of severe pain and uncertainty while still undergoing recovery.
He also reflected on the importance of support during illness, saying he was accompanied through parts of the process by his personal assistant, who remained with him during hospitalisation despite initial instructions not to travel.
Oritsejafor said the ordeal ultimately strengthened his faith and reinforced his belief in resilience and perseverance, adding that he used the experience as a lesson on endurance and gratitude.
He encouraged people facing challenges to remain hopeful, stressing that recovery and breakthroughs can come even after prolonged periods of difficulty.
