A 37-year-old man, Ziaulihak Zakari, popularly known as Abuja, has allegedly confessed to accepting N500,000 to carry out an acid attack on a female spa worker in the Lakowe area of Lagos State.
The victim, Olorunseunfunmi Awosogbon, reportedly suffered serious injuries to her head, chest and hands during the incident, which occurred on October 25, 2025.
According to reports, Awosogbon had gone to attend to a home service appointment booked through the spa where she worked. The service was scheduled to take place at Lakowe Golf Gate near Utmost Care Hospital when the attack happened.
Investigations, however, revealed that the victim was allegedly attacked by mistake.
Her employer, Olorunmaye Ifeoluwa, said the incident was linked to a dispute involving a former relationship between her and another suspect accused of arranging the attack.
She explained that the relationship lasted only a few months and was marked by frequent disagreements before it eventually ended.
Zakari and another suspect identified as Owolabi Daniel have since been arraigned before an Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court on charges bordering on conspiracy, threat to life and causing bodily harm.
Zakari, who was reportedly arrested on March 19, 2026, allegedly admitted during interrogation that he was hired to carry out the attack but mistakenly targeted the wrong person.
“There is a man named Daniel who contacted me through a security guard and told me he had a job. When he said he needed someone to pour acid on a person, I agreed,” he reportedly said.
He added that he initially failed to execute the plan because he was afraid, but later carried out the attack after another opportunity presented itself.
“I mistook the target and attacked the wrong person,” he confessed.
Zakari also claimed that the acid used in the attack was provided by Daniel and the security guard who linked them together.
According to him, he received N500,000 for the operation and paid the security guard N50,000 for facilitating the arrangement.
Court documents alleged that the suspects conspired in October 2025 in the Lakowe area of Ibeju-Lekki to commit offences including threats to life and causing bodily harm, contrary to the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The charge sheet further alleged that Daniel threatened Ifeoluwa through WhatsApp messages, while Zakari was accused of unlawfully injuring Awosogbon by pouring a corrosive substance on her.
